Embodied Visual Object Recognition
We present in this paper a research platform for development and evaluation of embodied visual object recognition strategies. The platform uses a stereoscopic peripheral-foveal camera system and a fast pan-tilt unit to perform saliencybased visual search. This is combined with a classification framework based on the bag-of-features paradigm with the aim of targeting, classifying and recognising...
متن کاملObject recognition using boosted adaptive features
Most existing pattern recognition techniques are based on using a fixed set of features, hand-crafted or learned by non supervised methods, to classify the data samples. But in natural and uncontrolled environments, sometimes it can be useful to use more adaptive classifiers. We propose a learning algorithm based on a boosting scheme where features are adapted to the classification task, result...

متن کاملEmbodied Object Recognition: When moving helps to recognise
This work is a preliminary exploration of modulatory interaction of motor control signal and visual processing for embodied agents. The first results show that complex dynamics of evolved controllers can help to understand the interaction between motor and visual signals and maybe can shed some light about top-down attentional modulation in neuro-controllers for visually guided tasks.
